Robots.txt – Life of a SEO (Saturday Night)

Well, my wife wanted to catch-up on her “chick flick” watching movies and gave me the thumbs up to work a couple hours tonight. So what am I doing? Making sure that all of my clients “robots.txt” files are up to snuff. I choose to just stick to the basic command that says, come on by any and all search engines. I figure the scum crawlers aren’t going to obey any commands you give them anyway. So, here’s what I do:

** Kinda funny thing just happened. My wife asked me to close my office doors. Guess I was typing too loud. LOL.

SEO Conflict of Interest

It happened again this week (see May 2009 post), I had to turn two probable clients away due to potential conflict of interest – or perhaps that should read, I had to turn two potential clients away due to probable conflict of interest. I really don’t like turning away business, but it seems the only right thing to do. Client loyalty wins out, EVERY time!

Prediction Time – Recession is Over!

Just a quick post to say that I think the recession is over. In hindsight, several things coincided with the beginning of the recession business-wise for us; and those things have since reversed. My hunch is in a few months, they will be telling us we started pulling out of the recession in May 2009. There, it’s official. That’s my prediction.

SEO, where do our new clients come from?

After moving from Washington to Indiana, I had some really good friends and family (and God) that wanted to see our family make it on our own. You can read more about our beginnings here, About Us. These *closest* friends were nice enough to trust me and refer me to places they worked which in turn referred us to others, and then others.

As our network of friends and family leads began to dry up, we started ranking for phrases like ‘seo seattle’ and ‘seo services’ which then started to bring in around a new client a month which is all I’ve really been able to handle for the past three years.

Only recently have I needed to start drumming up more business. Not only for myself, but also for a couple new employees coming on board that are giving it a good go of things to bring on their own clients. As such, and with the slowing economy, we are starting to tap back into the friends and family network of leads. I prefer not to have to do this, but at the same time, its kind of fun showing off to family and friends our remarkable services. Stu Collins, a Puyallup Realtor, is one of those friends.
